Taking the StumpJumper for a Little Spin

I'll be hitting the local trails this afternoon with the old StumpJumper. Not sure where I'll go, probably Umstead or Beaver Dam. All depends on my mood, but I'm anxious to get on some real trails!

The Bike for La Ruta is Here!!

Many thanks to Aaron and John at the Bicycle Chain for hooking me up with a sweet ride for La Ruta. I put 122 miles on my road bike Saturday and didn't have a whole lot of time to ride my new Stumpjumper FSR after picking it up on Sunday, but I did manage a quick ride around Durant Lake. What a great bike!!! I also want to thank Aaron at the Bicyle Chain for recommending the rear mud flap and the Shimano XT pedals to help me deal with the mud in Costa Rica!!

Enjoy the pics!

Hot New Bike!!!

I've got the go ahead to get a new bike!!! Sometime before this weekend I should have my hot little hands on a brand-spanking new mountain bike for La Ruta. Of course, I'll post some cool pics of it as soon as I get it... what will it be?

Ramblin' On!

It's official, not only is the Ramblin' Rose Triangle (10/21) sold out, but now the Ramblin' Rose Charlotte (10/7) has filled as well. That's quite impressive considering that this race is still nearly 5 weeks away AND it's an inaugural event. After an extremely successful Ramblin' Rose Triangle last October, it seemed quite certain that women in the Charlotte area would be equally enthusiastic about competing in a women-only super sprint triathlon, especially one that benefits the Girls on the Run. Sure enough! Now even charity slots ($150 each) are being claimed at an astonishing rate. One can't help but wonder if the Ramblin' Rose isn't just a small bud getting ready to blossom across the state and beyond.
